Whether you are interested in showing your dog, or just want to improve behavior and life skills, there are training resources that can help. You should always start with Foundations and Your End of the Leash. If there is a behavior issue, get Management in place to pave the way for training and practice.

It is important to have your dog’s focus and attention – for your dog to value your time together. You should spend time every day on doing cooperative or competitive activities together that you both enjoy. Training can be one of these activities, but don’t forget Engagement activities that are intrinsically rewarding.

How to Train

There are basically two phases to training. In Phase 1 we teach the dog what the desired behavior is, and associate it with a command. In Phase 2, we teach the dog that the command is not optional. After that, we regularly practice and review to keep the knowledge fresh.
